Slinky Vagabond working on debut effort, Duffy to guest DJ on Sunday

Already a fixture in NYC's punk and glam underground, the allstar line-up of SLINKY VAGABOND have been busy at work on their debut album set for release in late 2009. But this Sunday, April 12th, the multi-talented (and multi-careered) frontman KEANAN DUFFTY will be jumping behind a different kind of microphone - as guest DJ on the NYC-based online radio station East Village Radio (www.eastvillageradio.com) from 2:00 - 4:00pm EST.

On Sunday, acclaimed fashion designer and frontman of Slinky Vagabond Keanan Duffty will take over the decks of the weekly radio show "Atlantic Tunnel", spinning Bowie-inspired British electronic and rock, broadcasting from the new Top Shop store in NYC's Soho. First established in June 2003, and originally broadcast on the airwaves at 88.1 FM, EVR was sent a cease-and-desist letter by the FCC when an article in the New York Times mentioned it as an unlicensed station.

Due to the difficulty of obtaining new FM licenses, even LPFM licenses, in a large metropolis such as NYC, the decision was made to make EVR an internet radio station. Resident DJs on the station include British multi-platinum artist and producer Mark Ronson, Tummy Touch's Tim "Love" Lee, and legendary NYC DJ Delphine Blue who's "Shocking Blue" program has been a staple in the Progressive music scene for over 20 years.

Duffty, a fashion designer and TV host by day, is the lead singer of Slinky Vagabond alongside Glen Matlock of the Sex Pistols on bass, Clem Burke of Blondie and Earl Slick, David Bowie’s guitarist (Buzzcock Pete Shelley provides guest vocals on one track as well).

The band made their debut in May 2007 at NYC's Irving Plaza as part of Joey Ramone's annual birthday bash and also performed for Gen Art during New York Fashion Week and at the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp. Duffty also performed at the Marc Bolan 30th Anniversary show at the Delacorte Theatre in September 2007 alongside Patti Smith, Scissor Sisters, Moby, Lloyd Cole and the New York Dolls.

In April 18, 2008 Duffty was part of an extraordinary concert line-up featuring performances by Clem Burke, Slash, Tom Morrello, Alan Vega, Ronnie Spector, Ian Hunter, Cheetah Chrome, Joan Jett, and Handsome Dick Manitoba. The worlds of music and fashion fused as Slinky Vagabond performed at the opening of John Varvatos' second boutique in New York City at 315 Bowery, a space that formerly housed the seminal underground music club CBGB's.

Most recently, Duffty was a high contender for the still-vacant lead vocalist spot in Velvet Revolver.

In addition to his many credits in the music world, Duffty is also the co-host of Plum TV’s The Juice which broadcasts in The Hamptons, Miami South Beach, Aspen, and Martha’s Vineyard. His fashion designs are available at Target and Ben Sherman. He recently collaborated with David Bowie on a collection for Target in 2007. The Bowie By Keanan Duffty Collection was available in 1200 stores across the USA.

Slinky Vagabond's punk/glam debut album is due for release in late 2009.
