Funeral Party enjoyed breakout success overseas last year touring with the Jared Leto-led 30 Seconds To Mars and making summer stops at the Reading and Leeds festivals. The East Los Angeles alternative rock band will be busy stateside in 2011 with the March 29 release of its U.S. debut, Golden Age Of Knowhere.
Building up to the album’s release, Funeral Party will release the EP Live At The BBC on January 25, as well as a limited edition, vinyl-version of their forthcoming debut on February 15. The band will launch an extensive tour this spring that includes a stop at the famed South-By-Southwest music festival.
Golden Age Of Knowhere is produced by Lars Stalfors (Matt & Kim, The Mars Volta) and mixed by Dave Sardy (Band of Horses, LCD Soundsystem, Oasis). Standout tracks on the 11-song debut include: “New York City Moves to the Sound of L.A,” “Carwars,” “Where Did It Go Wrong” and the first U.S. single, “Finale.”
The U.K.’s legendary Q Magazine gave Golden Age Of Knowhere four stars calling it “thrilling”; while Mojo says: “each track spills out with fist-in-the-air energy.” The Los Angeles Times calls Funeral Party: “a ravenously physical, technically precise and impossibly fun live act”; and NME named Funeral Party one of the top 50 Best New Bands of 2010.
To tide fans over until the vinyl and CD releases of their debut, Funeral Party will release the limited edition, vinyl version of Golden Age Of Knowhere on February 15 and the EP, Live At The BBC on January 25. The EP features several tracks recorded late last summer when the band was invited into the studio for a special live session after BBC Radio’s Zane Lowe added multiple Funeral Party tracks to his “Hottest Record in the World” playlist. The live EP also features three exclusive remixes by Dave Sitek (TV On The Radio), indie video mastermind Mike Relm and Kids of 88.
Funeral Party is poised to become everyone’s new favorite band of 2011.
