Run/walk Saturday in Ontario to benefit Christian Okoye Foundation

Ontario Mills, the largest outlet and value retail shopping destination in California, is proud to continue to host The Christian Okoye Foundation’s 5th annual Ontario Mills 5K/10K Run and Walk on Saturday, January 22 at 7:00 a.m. in the mall’s northwest parking lot. All of the proceeds will benefit at-risk youth in the Inland Empire.

“Ontario Mills is honored to team with The Christian Okoye Foundation to help thousands of children in need in our own community,” said Masa Liles, area director of marketing for Ontario Mills. “We are excited to host this event, providing another way for our shoppers to also get involved and give back to their community.”

The Christian Okoye Foundation, founded in 1990, benefits more than 5,000 at-risk and underprivileged youth in the Inland Empire every year by hosting free athletic clinics, featuring active and retired professional athletes and Olympians. Children in need are provided unparalleled training in sports, while also being encouraged to set goals, continue their education and develop business and entrepreneurial skills. Okoye has dedicated his life to helping at-risk children succeed after growing up poor in Nigeria and beating the odds to finish seven seasons in the NFL as an All-Pro running back, MVP and Hall of Famer for the Kansas City Chiefs.

“As the economy still continues to struggle, we have found that the number of Inland Empire children in need is greater than ever,” said Christian Okoye, founder of the Christian Okoye Foundation. “We had a record number of runners and walkers at last year’s event, nearly 450 of them, and we hope to break that record again this year.”

Registration fees range from $20 - $35. All participants will be given an event t-shirt. For more information or to register for the race, please visit www.okoyefoundation.org or call (909) 481-3541.
