San Diego Music Thing set for Sept. 9 and 10

The San Diego Music Thing (formerly known as the North Park Music Thing) is now in its fourth year drawing music industry professionals, talented musicians and aspiring professionals to beautiful San Diego, California. This year's event will be September 9 and 10 with daytime events, including panels, mentoring and demo review sessions held during the day at the historic Lafayette Hotel in North Park. In the evening, over 150 performers will take stage at 15 venues.

Recent additions to the esteemed panelists for this year’s event include Jello Biafra (Alternative Tentacles Records / Dead Kennedys), Michael Addicott (Pandora), Michael Robertson (MP3Tunes.com, Dar.FM), Josh Feingold (SESAC), Lou Plaia (Reverb Nation), Scott Simoneaux (Aquarium Drunkard) and Derek Schaefer (AEG Live). They join previously announced panelists including Kevin Lyman (Warped Tour), Nic Adler (The Roxy), Bruce Flohr (Red Light Management), Marc Wilson (Warner Chappell Publishing), David Hirshland (Bug Music), Chris Douridas (KCRW and independent music supervisor), Martin Atkins (Tour Smart, Nine Inch Nails, PiL), Daryl Berg (Reveille LLC) and Amy Stevens (Fuse TV). Panel topics include music technology, streaming and The Cloud, touring, management, marketing and public relations, music licensing and more.

The evening Music Fest will feature a Thursday night kick-off event with Telekenesis and scheduled performances from over 150 bands on Friday and Saturdayincluding sets from Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., Crystal Antlers, Davilla 666, Andy Clockwise, Gobble Gobble, The Silent Comedy, Little Hurricane, Chuck Ragan and Exene Cervenka. Showcases will also be presented by ReverbNation and San Francisco indie festival - Noise Pop!, The Roxy on Sunset, BMI, Sesac and others.

The annual event is presented by the San Diego Music Foundation, (www.sandiegomusicfoundation.org ) a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching San Diego's diverse and creative music community through music education for youth, professional development for current and emerging industry professionals, live performances for the San Diego public, and recognition for San Diego artists of exceptional merit or service.
