Cal Poly student walks to help Soles4Souls

NO SHOES NOVEMBER has announced it will be participating in a unique fundraising program offered by Soles4Souls Inc., the international shoe charity dedicated to providing shoes for people in need. Participating in Soles4Souls’ fundraising program is one way that local schools and other organizations can get involved, while helping to provide shoes and other supplies to hurting people all over the world.

In addition to making a difference in the lives of people across the globe, No Shoes November will also generate critical revenue for its operations and goals, something Soles4Souls is proud to offer. “We are so grateful to community organizations like No Shoes November for stepping up and realizing the need in the international community,” said Wayne Elsey, Founder and CEO of Soles4Souls. “For the cost of a cup of coffee, you can put shoes on the feet of a child in need, as well as support a local school or community organization. Our fundraiser is a partnership in its truest form, and we need more partners like our friends at like No Shoes November to recognize the simplicity of this gift and get involved.”

Soles4Souls’ fundraising program provides an innovative alternative to traditional fundraisers, allowing participants to raise valuable revenue for their organization, while making a significant difference in the lives of others. How the program works is simple:
• Participants collect financial sponsorships of Soles4Souls shoes
• Soles4Souls uses their portion to ship the sponsored shoes to people in need
• Soles4Souls sends the organization their fundraiser earnings, and donors their tax receipts

No Shoes November will run the fundraising program from November 1st, 2011 to November 30th, 2011, and is looking forward to the support of its local community.

ABOUT NO SHOES NOVEMBER

My name is John - I'm 22, am currently pursuing degrees in Marketing and Journalism at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, love the outdoors, eco-spirituality, and philanthropy. Throughout the entire month of November, I will be raising awareness and money for Soles4Souls by walking everywhere I normally would completely barefoot for the entire month, wearing a pedometer at all times to track my total barefooted mileage. For most of us, shoes are nothing but a fashion statement or accessory, but for roughly 1.4 billion people worldwide, shoes are an unaffordable luxury that protect against the spread of many harmful parasitic diseases. I aim to change that, and there is no better way to develop a passion and understanding for a cause than to experience it firsthand.

This is where you come in. It'd be absolutely incredible if you folks could pledge something small and reasonable for every mile I walk without shoes - something like $0.25 per mile, or whatever you're comfortable with! I'll also gladly accept any flat donations you can spare! At the end of the month, I'll tally up my total mileage and donate all of the proceeds.

I’ll be keeping a running blog of my progress, with photos, videos, and donations here: http://www.soles4soulsfundraising.org/NoShoesNovember

If we all managed to find a way to extend the helping hand to those in need, our world would be a much less cruel place.
