REDCAT, CalArts' downtown center for contemporary arts, presents the Los Angeles premiere of Ultimedia Theremin, an evening of avant-garde sights and sounds by world-renowned theremin virtuoso, innovative multi-instrumentalist, and composer Eric Ross in collaboration with video artist Mary Ross. Ultimedia Theremin will be presented at the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater on Friday, November 2 at 8:30 pm.
On November 2nd, the husband and wife pair offer a fresh and engrossing concert experience—by turns hypnotic, lyrical, even fiery. In addition to his masterful caress of the theremin, Eric writes lively music that is unquestionably futuristic but also accessible, mixing elements of classical, serial, jazz, electronic and avant-garde. Mary's video projections, meanwhile, are conceived, arranged, and edited to her counterpart's music. The centerpiece of the Rosses' hourlong program is their most recent opus, Boulevard d'Ronstructie (Op. 54).
