Gary Allegretto CD release party at the Coffee Gallery Backstage in May

Gary Allegretto releases his new CD “Harmonicowboy” with a 7:00 PM performance at the Coffee Gallery Backstage in Altadena on May 10th (Mothers Day). Renowned Cowboy Poet Gary Robertson shares the bill with the new release of his CD “Word Wranglin’”.

Singer, songwriter and harmonica virtuoso Gary Allegretto will be performing with guitarist Ian Espinoza at the Coffee Gallery Backstage to celebrate the release of his new CD “Harmonicowboy”. Also on the bill is acclaimed Cowboy Poet Gary Robertson who will also be releasing his CD “Word Wranglin’”.

Gary Allegretto was honored this year with True West Magazine's "2009 Best of the West Award", saying
"... This harmonica wrangler has a versatile technique that is sure to impress the cowboy hat off your head."

Gary’s new CD “Harmonicowboy” is a spirited, bluesy, inspired, and often humorous collection of original cowboy songs that has already been heralded by prominent folks in the Western music and poetry world. It features many wonderful guest musicians including some of the last guitar work from Gary's dear friend, the late, great Bluesman and National Heritage Fellowship recipient John Cephas. It is co-produced by Lenise Bent and mastered by Grammy Award winner Gavin Lurrsen (Johnny Cash, Allison Kraus and Robert Plant).

Proud to be called a "Harmonicowboy”, Gary Allegretto has a diverse background that has included stints as a backcountry forest ranger, firefighter, and ranch hand throughout the Western states – broad ranging experience that is reflected in his song writing. Along the way there’s always been a harmonica within reach in his pickup, rucksack, saddlebag or vest pocket.

Gary’s jaw-dropping performances have captivated audiences at many Cowboy Poetry and Western music shows alongside top-notch cowboy performers and friends such as Dave Stamey, Curly Musgrave, Pat Richardson, Gary Robertson, Les Buffam, Juni Fisher, Rusty Richards, and many others. His music has been featured on film and television. Hohner, the world’s top harmonica manufacturer, endorses him.

Of worthy note, Gary is also the founding director of Harmonikids (www.harmonikids.org), a 501(c)3 nonprofit music therapy organization that gives harmonicas & lessons to special needs children internationally… after all, that’s the “cowboy way”.
