State Radio is on the road

As STATE RADIO cross the U.S. on their fall tour, the group--CHAD STOKES (lead vocals, guitars) CHUCK FAY (bass) and MIKE "MAD DOG" NAJARIAN (drums)--are previewing songs from their forthcoming album YEAR OF THE CROW due out February 5 (the album was just released digitally in September) via their own imprint Ruff Shod Records.
The musically inventive, socially and politically charged trio's critical acclaim continues to build, and their popular song "Keepsake"--off their Peace Between Nations EP (2005)--will be featured on the hit TV series "Weeds" Season 3 finale show coming Monday, November 19 (Showtime). Check out "Keepsake" which is currently featured on the band's MySpace site for one week, beginning today visit: www.myspace.com/stateradio.
Produced by Tchad Blake (Elvis Costello, Pearl Jam, Tom Waits), YEAR OF THE CROW--an amalgam of rock, punk and reggae--was recorded at Real World studios in Wiltshire, England. The eclectic disc features the furious blues-thumping first single "Gang Of Thieves," an anti-Halliburton missive highlighting the casualties of the industrial military complex. In an early review of the album, the weekly Cincinnati City Beat noted: "YEAR OF THE CROW, contains songs about the torture tactics at Guantanamo, war profiteering and abuse of power, buoyed by a breezy Ragga-bounce built around tight grooves and spikes of Rock & Roll intensity. To think about global politics or dance, that is the question. State Radio hopes that you'll do both" (October 19, 2007). Meanwhile, Honest Tune.com heralded the group--who are known for their kinetic live show--by saying: "As soon as they stepped on the stage the crowd became one, moving to the music almost immediately. From the more reggae-inspired, to the almost punk, down to the highly political 'Gunship' State Radio's songs kept the audience dancing until the last note" (November 6, 2007).
Hailing from Boston, STATE RADIO has been nominated for two Boston Music Awards including both "Song Of The Year" for "Unfortunates" (off the forthcoming Year of the Crow) as well as "Outstanding Live Act of the Year." Voting closes November 16 and the ceremony will be held at the Orpheum Theater on Saturday, December 1. Visit www.bostonmusicawards07.com to cast a vote.
In other news, STATE RADIO will join R.E.M., the Beastie Boys, G. Love & Special Sauce, The Wailers, Citizen Cope, Pete Francis and many others for the Langerado Music Festival on March 8 at the Big Cypress Seminole Reservation in Southern Florida (near Ft.
