The Shop Boyz to headline at the Diversity Awards

The Shop Boyz will “Party Like A Rockstar” as headlining performers at The 15th Annual Diversity Awards - “Celebrating Diversity – The Best and The Brightest Make It Happen!,” to be held on Sunday, November 18, 2007 at the Globe Theatre; Universal Studios Hollywood; 100 Universal City Plaza; Universal City, CA 91608, Jarvee E. Hutcherson, National President of the MMPA and Gordon S. Kenney, Executive Producer of The 15th Annual Diversity Awards, have announced.
The Atlanta-based rap group. Shop Boyz, are best known for their single “Party Like A Rockstar” from their debut album “Rockstar Mentality.” The singing group consists of Demetrius “Meany” Hardin, Richard “Phat” Stevens and Rasheed “Sheed” Hightower. Their lead single, “Party Like A Rockstar” landed on the Billboard rap charts, as well as the Hot 100, peaking at #2 on the Charts. The song has become a statement within the hip-hop community. Rap, Pop and accepted societal behavior are key themes of the album.
Awards will be presented to: Brittany Snow, Elijah Kelley, Jon Heder, Mo’Nique, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kenney Ortega, Idris Elba, House, The Bronx Is Burning, Work Out, Passions, Shark, The Office and CBS Entertainment. This event is a benefit for the MMPA’s Educational and Development Scholarship Fund, which helps talented and dedicated students seeking entry into the film and television professions.
The evening, which is open for the general public to attend, will begin with a Celebrity Silent Auction and Reception at 6:00 p.m., with Dinner at 7:00 p.m., followed by the Awards Show presentation and entertainment beginning at 8:15 p.m. Tickets are $300 each and up.
