Bob Mould to release album in February

Bob Mould, godfather of the modern rock genre, is returning to his rock roots with his highly anticipated full-length release District Line, available on Anti- February 5th 2008. In anticipation, he will release a two song digital single, “The Silence Between Us” and a live version of the Sugar classic “If I Can’t Change Your Mind” on January 8th.

Mould is the well-regarded genius behind Husker Du, a band hailed by VH1 as the one of the 100 Most Important Hard Rock bands, coming in just behind the Rolling Stones. They have been covered by Green Day and referenced by the Foo Fighters, and are called “the preeminent thrash-pop band of the decade” by Rolling Stone magazine.

Sugar, Mould’s post-Husker Du project, helped define the college-rock sound of the 1990s. Their 1992 release “Copper Blue” won the coveted “Album of the Year” award from the NME, and it is a live version of one of the tracks from the record (“If I Can’t Change Your Mind”) that appears as the B side on this single.

Early praise from for District Line is already coming in with Filter Magazine proclaiming, “He’s now writing his best songs since Sugar disbanded. This collection of songs neatly summates the range of Mould’s considerable abilities…he sounds fresh-faced and ready to charge back into the fray. Welcome back Bob, it’s good to have you.”

The two-song single will be available via iTunes and Amazon.
