Don Ross and Andy McKee to tour in January

The legendary Don Ross and Andy McKee will be on tour on the West Coast this January to promote the release of their new album, The Thing That Came From Somewhere, out on the CandyRat label.
A true innovator of guitar composition and technique, Don Ross has been hailed as one of the most respected musicians in Canada and one of the top guitarists in the world. In September 1996, he managed to do what no other player has done: win the prestigious U.S. National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship for the second time (he first won in 1988). The competition, held yearly in Winfield, Kansas, judges not just technique, but emotion and intensity - hallmarks of Ross' style.
A member of a highly musical family, Ross first started experimenting with the solo possibilities of the acoustic guitar at age eight. By age ten he was playing in alternate tunings and exploring "fingerstyle" technique. The result of this exploration is an unclassifiable musical style that borrows from jazz, folk, rock and classical music. Ross does extensive touring in Europe, Canada, the United States and Asia.
Andy McKee is music’s newest international phenomenon. This humbly self-described “guy from Topeka, Kansas” has literally won the world over with his YouTube videos. A self-trained fingerstyle guitarist and composer, McKee posted videos of his tunes on YouTube last year, a move that has launched a staggeringly successful career.
Since then, he has collected over 20 million hits on YouTube.com, launched a world tour, and acquired 32,500 MySpace friends. Knocking the late, great Johnny Cash out of the top spot as the highest-rated music video on YouTube, McKee has appeared by invitation on “Last Call with Carson Daly,” is in the Top 10 on the iTunes Folk page, and is currently featured on Josh Groban’s new album, Noel, on the track “Little Drummer Boy.”
