Make plans for First Fridays Series at the Natural History Museum

Natural History Museum First Fridays Series Returns January 4, 2008 with Conscious Minds and the Minds of Others: Popular Music and Discussion Series Features Dr. Antonio Damasio, Director of the Brain & Creativity Institute at USC; Performances by Sea Wolf and afternoons

WHAT
On the first evening of this season’s First Fridays, NHM provides an in-depth look at the inner workings of the human brain. A public forum led by guest speaker Dr. Antonio Damasio will cover how the brain processes memory, language, emotions and decisions. The evening will begin with a curator-guided tour of Treasures from the Vault, an exhibition of some of the Museum’s most rare and delicate objects. DJs Allen and Hoseh will spin throughout the night in the Museum’s grand foyer, home of the famous Dueling Dinos, and indie-rock groups Sea Wolf and afternoons will perform in the Mammal Halls.

EXHIBITION
In celebration of its 94th year, the Natural History Museum has selected some of its most remarkable and rarely seen artifacts and specimens for Treasures from the Vault, on view November 18 to January 21, 2008.

HOW
Admission is free for Museum members, $9 for adults, and $6.50 for children. Advanced tickets for First Fridays will be sold via Ticketweb.com. Tickets go on sale December 17, 2007.
