JOSS STONE releases Christmas single, "All I Want For Christmas" written and produced by Dan Mackenzie.
One thing leads to another: "All I Want For Christmas" is a song Dan Mackenzie wrote last year when he was commissioned to write a Christmas song for a holiday fundraiser. He sent it to Sue Devine, in ASCAP's Film/TV Dept as an FYI and she was so smitten with it... not usually in the business of pitching songs to film and TV, she made an exception for this one, and began to pitch it for Holiday placement. After receiving so many great responses, Dan decided that a female vocal would add a certain something. And so, just one month ago, he sent it out to JOSS STONE... who fell in love with it and recorded it while fully immersed in a European tour. DAN MACKENZIE won the ASCAP Sammy Cahn Lyricist Award in 2004. Dan Mackenzie is an EMMY nominated songwriter who has also won the prestigious ASCAP Sammy Cahn Lyricist Award (other winners include John Mayer, Josh Ritter and Lori McKenna.) He has recently been writing several songs for the upcoming Holly/Bollywood musical film, "Basmati Blues," (other tunes penned by Moby, Brian Wilson and Burt Bacharach) and has had numerous song placements in film and TV. Dan has just completed his own new release, The Universe Is A Great Big Place, (produced by Dan Mackenzie, Chris Keup and Stewart Myers, mixed by Robbie "Achtung Baby" Adams.)
