Ana Egge coming to Encino with Eleni Mandell

After finishing up her current European tour with Canadian chart topper Joel Plaskett, Ana Egge will make a special appearance in Los Angeles to play with Eleni Mandell at the Center for Folk Music in Encino, CA on August 14th. Presented by Paniolo Productions, Ana will play songs from her critically acclaimed CD Road To My Love along with several new tunes she is working on for her upcoming album, slated to release at the end of this year. In other exciting news, U.S. Airways is currently featuring an interview with Ana, along with her music, as part of their in-flight entertainment this summer.

Ana grew up a farmer's daughter in Ambrose, North Dakota (pop. 23). When Ana was a teen, her family moved to Silver City New Mexico where they started their own progressive school. After finishing school, learning to build her own house and guitar, Ana moved to Austin, TX where she recorded her first album, River Under the Road, for which she garnered two Austin Music Awards for Best Folk Artist and Best Singer-Songwriter. The Austin Chronicle proclaimed River Under The Road "A debut masterpiece worthy of a songwriter decades worldlier than this mere twenty-year old soul."

Ana followed up her entrée with the release of four more solo albums that include Mile Marker, 101 Sundays, Out Past The Lights, and an album of covers celebrating the art of laziness, Lazy Days. Throughout Ana has toured consistently, sharing the stage with the likes of Lucinda Williams, George Jones, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Shawn Colvin and Ron Sexsmith to name only a few.

2009 proved to be a busy year for Ana with the release of Road To My Love, the sixth and most soulful album to date, from the critically acclaimed folk-rock songwriter, vocalist and accomplished guitarist. American Songwriter magazine described Egge's voice as "Honeysuckle dripping with the strains of Lucinda Williams and Ron Sexsmith." In support of the new CD, Ana embarked on a solo tour across the U.S and toured throughout Canada and Europe with Canadian hit maker Joel Plaskett (Ana sang on 19 tracks on his latest release). In an incredible career highlight, Ana joined Joel opening for Sir Paul McCartney.

Currently writing songs for a new album to be recorded later this year, Ana will continue to tour on the heels of Road To My Love. Egge has also contributed a cover of Sara Hickman's song "Joy" for the upcoming benefit compilation Best of Times. The CD features a host of great artists and will be released by Hickman with the proceeds going to the organizations TAP & Big Thought!, two non-profits that bring theatre, music, art and creative writing to children in local Texas schools.
