Loch & Key coming to L.A. in support of upcoming album

Los Angeles-based band Loch & Key (http://www.lochandkey.net/) have confirmed September 7th as the release date for their indie debut release Jupiter’s Guide to Submariners.

Founded by former American Music Club and Bedroom Walls guitarist Sean Hoffman and visual artist Leyla Akdogan, Loch & Key have only played a handful of shows since forming in 2008. With the release of their debut CD, Loch & Key have confirmed several local live dates from August through October including a residency at the Redwood Bar in downtown Los Angeles.

Additional dates to be added but confirmed dates include:

08/03 @ The Echo, Los Angeles, CA (International Pop Overthrow)
09/09 @ Redwood Bar, Los Angeles, CA
09/23 @ Redwood Bar, Los Angeles, CA
09/30 @ Redwood Bar, Los Angeles, CA
10/04 @ Genghis Cohen, Los Angeles, CA (BMI Showcase, acoustic)

Jupiter’s Guide for Submariners was recorded entirely in Hoffman’s Echo Park neighborhood studio in Los Angeles. Harkening back to the classic California sounds of the Beach Boys and The Carpenters, touches of bossa nova along with bits and pieces of the Golden State's magic distilled with visions of faraway destinations, create a truly beautiful album over twelve original tunes. Two tracks in particular, were influenced by Los Angeles: “Mt. Washington” and ”In The Town of the Queen of the Angels.”

Song titles include: “Mt. Washington”, “Apis Mellifera”, “Baby (I’m Thinking About You, Me & Somewhere)”, “In the Town of the Queen of the Angels”, “A Rather Large Television-Shaped Head”, “Maybe”, “The Boy with an Apple Where his Heart Should Be”, “The Man Who Fell from the Sky”, “Devil’s Backbone”, “Moon Angel”, “Helixes” & “Goodnight Bright Eyes”.

Jupiter’s Guide for Submariners is a limited edition CD of only 500, each sleeve hand-stamped with artwork created by Akdogan. “Sean and I envisioned the album as having a parallel life in art, not just music”, said Leyla Akdogan “The songs on Jupiter’s Guide for Submariners are so full of narrative and imagery that we decided I would do a painting inspired by each track and it would culminate in an art opening planned for this fall with New Puppy Gallery in LA. The artwork is posted on the band website as it’s finished along with signed, limited edition giclee prints which are available for purchase. “

ABOUT LOCH & KEY
Loch & Key was conceived while passing time in a laundromat in the south of France, after Hoffman’s last show with American Music Club at the Benicassim Festival in Spain. Their first song was penned on a poorly intonated Spanish guitar purchased from a beachfront shop somewhere on the coast of Catalonia. The Los Angeles-based band is comprised of Leyla Akdogan’s oscine vocals and Sean Hoffman’s nowhere-to-be guitar playing set against grandiose orchestrations, Loch & Key’s debut release, Jupiter’s Guide to Submariners is set for release on September 7th and is an aural vacation set to a backdrop of dreamy AM Gold.
