Hey! Did you miss The Aggrolites last time around? Or, like me, would you like to see them again? Well, they're coming back so mark your calendar for one of the best shows I've seen this year! ~M
Fresh off a successful southwestern U.S. tour, dirty reggae masters The Aggrolites are humbled by the initial response of Reggae Hit L.A., their second effort for Hellcat Records. Jesse, Brian, J, Korey and Roger continuously showcase their unique reggae, rock, soul and funky styling through their live shows, and now on the FM dial and music videos.
According to Punknews.com, "Reggae Hit L.A. is a dazzling album from start to finish. The Aggrolites have carved out their niche in the music community and planted their flag in a hybrid territory made up of some of the most soulful music around, and in doing so have crafted the perfect summer album."
Reggae Hit L.A. debuted on Billboard’s Reggae Chart at #3 and is now at #11. They’re moving up the Alternative New Artist Chart from #66 to #50. The album was the #10 most added on the CMJ charts with 41 adds during the add week and charted for 7 weeks on the top 200, peaking at #85. It was also on the CMJ world chart for 3 weeks, peaking at #22.
Their first single "Free Time" is receiving regular airplay on two very influential alternative music stations - INDIE 103.1FM in Los Angeles and FM94/9 in San Diego - as well as numerous reggae specialty programs all over the U.S. It's quickly becoming the perfect summer hit track. And, now fans can find a video for "Free Time" on www.Aggroreggae.com, www.myspace.com/theaggrolites and www.Youtube.
The Aggrolites recently had the honor of headlining an LA Film Fest event that paid tribute to the late Joe Strummer with the showing of “The Future Is Unwritten.” Presented by INDIE 103.1, the band took to the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre stage to perform their Aggro versions of The Clash's classics "White Man from Hammersmith Palais" and "Know Your Rights." Is there a better band to pay such tribute!?!
Continuing their quest to broaden and strengthen their fan base, The Aggrolites return to the road in late July for a two month tour of North America (both headlining and supporting Dropkick Murphys) and Europe. They begin on July 21 at the prestigious Getty Center in Los Angeles, next a stop in their home town of Los Angeles at the Sunset Junction festival alongside Ben Harper, The O’Jays, Buzzcocks, and then off to Bumbershoot: Seattle’s Music & Arts Festival, joining the likesof Sean Paul, Wu-Tang Clan and Panic! At The Disco.
