MxPx ready for second leg of tour

I caught MxPx at the Avalon not too long ago and they were awesome! Get your punk on at one of these shows ~M

After headlining the Tooth & Nail Tour earlier this summer, MxPx is set to hit the road again next week for a leg of special free in-store performances and signings around the country. The trek launches July 17 --the day the group release their new CD SECRET WEAPON on Tooth & Nail Records-- with a performance at Vintage Vinyl in Fords, NJ. These dates will be followed by a week of shows on the Vans Warped Tour this summer. Ernie Ball is proud to announce that the band --who are longtime endorsees-- will perform on the Ernie Ball Stage at the Vans Warped Tour in the following cities: Chicago, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Cleveland and Camden. Next up, MxPx will perform a slew of festival appearances in the U.S. and Asia throughout August and September. Expect the group to announce more fall dates soon.
Fans can get a sneak preview of the melodic and powerful lead single “Secret Weapon” as well as the CD’s other 15 songs on the MxPx MySpace page, where the band has posted streaming versions of the new songs:
The video for “Secret Weapon” can also be previewed at:

SECRET WEAPON—which Guitar World called “a glorious return to form”--marks the eighth studio album for MxPx and is full of the highly-charged, infectious anthems that have made the punk/pop trio scene favorites and boasts a smattering of adventurous, classic pop-inspired winners that take group into new territory.
The CD is receiving early critical acclaim, as evidenced below:

“MxPx have found their center, like being at home (Secret Weapon is the band’s first album on Tooth & Nail in more than 10 years) and have produced the most cohesive CD of their career. All grown up, vocalist/bassist Mike Herrera—with his fellow Magnified Plaid-ers Tom Wisniewski (guitar) and Yuri Ruley (drums)—storms into the chorus of the title track, growling, ‘You are your own secret weapon/It’s all up to you to come out swinging.’ From the catchier than bird-flu ‘Not Nothing’ to the double-time, tear-up-that-half-pipe ‘Drowning,’ Secret Weapon shows off a band at the height of their career, even though they’re already almost two decades into it.”
--Casey Lynch, Alternative Press, August 2007

“…a hyper-charged album full of crashing rhythms and huge choruses that overlook commercial polish in favor of pure, unfiltered energy. The band still takes chances, though. ‘Sad Sad Song’ features rousing Beach Boys harmonies, and ‘Punk Rock Celebrity’ interrupts a storming anthem with delicate piano and victorious horns. It’s a glorious return to form.”
--Jon Wiederhorn, Guitar World, September 2007

“Secret Weapon is an excellent album…”
--HM Magazine, July/August 2007

“…one of the defining bands of the pop-punk scene…they’ve returned to their roots with a jumping new record…”
--Emily Zemler, Aquarian Weekly, May 23, 2007

MxPx--MIKE HERRERA (bass/vocals), TOM WISNIEWSKI (guitars) and YURI RULEY (drums)--has already sold over 2.4 million records worldwide in their 15 year career and has amassed a series of alternative radio and video favorites, including: “Punk Rawk Show,” “Chick Magnet,” “Move To Bremerton,” “I’m Okay, You’re Okay” and “Responsibility” over seven studio albums, an array of EPs, plus a live disc and a DVD.
