Summer Strummer Festival set for September 2

The second annual THE SUMMER STRUMMER FESTIVAL is set for Sunday, September 2 at Santa Monica, California’s Bergamot Station art gallery enclave. Produced by Swing House (www.swinghouse.com) and The Overbey Agency (www.theoverbeyagency.com), THE SUMMER STRUMMER FESTIVAL is the ultimate all-ages end of summer mega music, skate and lifestyle extravaganza. The day-long Labor Day weekend event will feature over 40 bands on three stages (Gibson Haybale Stage, Star Lounge Stage, Monster Energy Stage), an afternoon skateboarding expo, autograph sessions and Gibson guitar giveaways.
Artists confirmed to perform at the 2007 SUMMER STRUMMER FESTIVAL include: Mat Kearney, Augustana, Jesse Malin, Brett Dennen, Duane Peters Gunfight, The Exies, Eddie Spaghetti of Supersuckers & friends, Over It, Test Your Reflex, Orange, Jeremy Fisher, Kate Voegele, Whitestarr, The Tender Box, Astra Heights, Rezurex, Deadbolt, Battalion of Saints, The Uprising, Los Creepers, The Widders, Big John Bates & the Voodoo Dolls, Speedbuggy, Mandi Perkins, Rocket, Dirty Harry, Jay Clifford, Ian Moore, Dead Rock West, Tim Myers, Drive-A, Billy Boy on Poison, Dusty Rhodes & the River Band, Charlie & the Valentine Killers, Lonesome Spurs, Manda, and Canon. An additional surprise headliner will be announced in the coming weeks.
Festival partner Charlie Overbey of The Overbey Agency describes how the event has grown in just one year, noting: ”We set out to throw a little ‘small town feel’ music fair for a few hundred people that appreciate a great day in the sun as much as we do and just in the second year it has turned into a concert with 40+ bands, a skate expo, loads of amazing vendors, a beer garden, and we’ve even got pony rides and a petting zoo for the kids. We love what this event has become and really appreciate our fantastic sponsors as well as everyone that has been a part of making it happen. We look forward to hangin’ out with hipsters of all ages at the festival this year.”
In addition to its popularity with the public, THE SUMMER STRUMMER FESTIVAL also received acclaim from the media. Here’s a sample of what the critics had to say about last year’s event:

“Santa Monica’s Summer Strummer proved that a festival in a neighborhood not known as a music hub can attract fans from across the city while giving residents a new reason to dig their side of town…”
--August Brown, Los Angeles Times, October 5, 2006

“…the perfect end to an endless summer.”
--LA Weekly, September 14, 2006

”Structurally, The Summer Strummer will be remembered as one of the best-organized festivals of the year…Situated in a comfortable environment and boasting both a solid line-up and reasonable ticket price, The Summer Strummer was the most enjoyable festival of the summer.”
--Liz Ohanesian, Santa Monica Mirror, September 21, 2006
