Fullerton's Cold War Kids trying for slot at Virgin Festival

Fullerton's hometown indie blues rock band Cold War Kids is vying for a slot at this year's Virgin Festival By Virgin Mobile where fans select their favorite of five emerging U.S. bands. Thousands have already voted at http://www.virginfestival.com/2007/index.html to get their favorite group on the stage at this summer’s Virgin Festival By Virgin Mobile being held on August 4-5, 2007 at Pimlico Race Course® in Baltimore, MD and featuring The Police, The Smashing Pumpkins, Beastie Boys and 40 other acts.
"Book the Band By Virgin Mobile," hosted by Jim Shearer, can be seen on MTV2 segments on "T-Minus Rock" (weekdays at 11am) and "Subterranean" (Sundays at 1am) through the voting period which ends July 20. Episodes also appear on MTV2's "Saturday Rock" series in July.
Cold War Kids is competing against AIDEN, THE HIGHER, MUTE MATH and SAY ANYTHING. At the Festival website, viewers and fans can stream original music, read bios, watch the MTV2 vignettes and, most importantly, vote for their favorite band. Fans can also vote via text message on any carrier.
